Businesses and buildings in Crown Heights and Prospect Heights that you miss
whynot_31
I think we all agree that Brooklynian posters spend a lot of time writing about new businesses.
Do readers have any businesses that closed that they miss?
I'll go first: I miss Teddy's on Washington Avenue, because it was a reasonably priced, non-fancy place.

tereketethe West Indian place that occupied part of what became Barboncino was THE best i'd ever had. Had a smoker outside, and sadly, the name escapes me. No record on Google Maps either

pheightsresidentThere was a Chinese restaurant on Washington between Bergen and Dean when I first moved to the neighborhood in 1999 (I'm forgetting the name of it). It didn't close until a few years after we moved into the area. I loved only having to walk around the corner to get cheap, decent Chinese food (in addition to cheap, $0.75 hamburgers!). I know for a fact that this place didn't close for good when it left its location on Washington, but that it moved, east I believe, to take advantage of cheaper rents. -
homeownerI miss Syd's, pretty much every Saturday that I sleep in and then wake looking for a good hearty lunch to take the place of the two meals my body think its owed. -

Terekete, I remember this place well--it was called "The Spice Is Right." We lived on that block at the time and the delicious smells from the cooker outside drove us nuts. I'd have to walk by it every night on my way home from work. Sadly, it was gone just a few months after we moved in.
I still miss Homage, which was on Park Pl. till they suffered a fire (2010 or 2011). We spent some nice summer evenings eating yummy burgers on their back patio. Damn, their fries were good.
And I was very sad to see Yogumoo bite the dust. I enjoyed their frozen yogurt and the kind souls who worked there!

crownheightsterI miss Chop Chop Grub Shop. -
M_Pondedited March 2015I miss the fish and chips spot that was on Park Place, over where Silver Rice is now. Their sign is still up on the corner of Franklin & Park, but they have been gone for years. Their fish sandwiches were gigantic and tasty, for just a few dollars (if even). I could make at least two meals out of one serving, which was everything back when I was broke.

tsarinaI miss the pizza shop two or three shops north of Fulton on Nostrand. The old Italian guy was there since the sixties and made his own sauce. That pizza was incredible! Too bad he retired and everything since is just ... -
whynot_31I miss being able to get a seat on the train.
