For those unaware, this year's tour will be the third annual Crown Heights walking tour led by Ms. Whynot and Whynot.

For the past two years we've focused on what's happening in northwest Crown Heights.

This year, we will discuss the changes that are happening in southwest Crown Heights.

We will make stops at the Bedford Union Armory, Medgar Evers College, Ebbets Field Apartments, the (perhaps) zoning proposal, the spice factory, and at the sites of several large buildings in the planning stages.

Community leaders will speak at each to describe who may win and who may lose at each.

The walk will begin at the armory, located at Bedford and Union.

Saturday, May 2nd. 2:00 PM. We should be done by 4:00.

Additional details about the walk can be found here:
http://janeswalk.org/united-states/new-york-city-ny/change-sw-crown-heights/

Local media will be utilized to advertise the walk as well. We hope to spread the word enough to attract about 70 people. No RSVP system is in place, so we will be doing some guessing.

That link doesn't seem to work. Both yesterday and today I got:

    "We're Sorry.

I believe "constant contact" links expire after a period of time.

The link advertised the walk to the membership of the Crown Heights Community Council, which is basically an affiliation of block associations around Medgar Evers College.

Guests are not required RSVP, but it you'd like to, here is how:

In addition to the stops listed on the Jane's Walk site, we will discuss the new buildings coming the Sea Crest site and the BBG site.

    ...and drinking a beer afterward.

Each year we ask people to raise their hand to tell us how they heard about the walk. Last year, around 70 people showed up as a result of:
    Brooklynian
    Jane's Walk/MAS
    DNA.info
    Brownstoner
    Friends of the presenters

Here is how it is looking this year.

    On the plus side:
-The people at MAS seem to be doing a lot more to advertise the weekend.

-We have fewer presenters which allows them to each speak for a longer period of time, which has caused them to encourage friends and family to see their greatness.

    -The weather is looking nice

-People are fascinated by Ebbets Field and Empire Blvd

    On the minus side:
-DNA.info and Brownstoner have yet to run articles in response to my sloppy requests.

-Planning geeks are getting tired of talking about gentrification.

-Some people attended in prior years to pet my dog. At 14, he now walks too slow and has not been advertised as part of the attractions.

So, I think we will get around 70 people again. We have created contingency plans to accommodate around 100.
