anybody here in the 71st Precinct?

I'm located on the south side of Eastern Parkway right near Franklin. I'm really impressed at the community involvement (based on what I'm seeing here on these boards) in the 77th precinct.

Anybody here from the south side of Eastern Parkway? Have you had any contact with the 71st precinct?

I've had to call them a few times in the year and a half I've lived here, and they don't answer the phone. Once I reached someone and they told me to always call 911, even for non emergencies!!??

Anyone have any personal contacts within the police precinct? Any useful info on this section of Crown Heights, especially in terms of the safety and crime problems? Are shootings primarily happening only in that section north of Eastern Parkway between Franklin and Bedford?

I agree with other posters on this board that we can try to improve the safety of the neighborhood by organizing and keeping an eye out for problems. I'd move to a safer area if I could afford it, but the reality is that safe areas = high rents, unless you move to a remote area with a looong commute to Manhattan.

I have been on boths sides of the Parkway. I like the 71st better
than the 77th. I got disrespected in the 77th a long time ago and
I will not forget that. The officer(s) made a couple of disparaging
racial remarks. There was a black officer right in front of them
when they said it. All this sellout did was lower his head and act
like he did not hear the officer when he made his "Amos and Andy"
reference to my situation
