Let's start the clock: When will a bar open on Utica that caters to the $7 craft beer crowd?

These two sites are presently available on Utica near Sterling: 198 Utica, 187 Utica.

I don't think anyone with the skills, resources and desire to operate a craft beer bar is going to sign the lease yet, but it seems like it is just a matter of time before someone with them does.

2018?

    2017.

But we need more and better restaurant options first I think.

2017 seems right. That stretch of Utica certainly has enough foot traffic.

Quite a bit before.  Franklin Park opened in 2008.  Chavela's moved in 2011.

At $7 a beer, Craft Beer Bars are more profitable than restaurants, and many young people (ie those that really appreciate craft beer) tend to do Seamless as opposed to eating out.

This venue flirted with the concept, but seemed to lack the skills and resources required: http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/43950/castle-hill-bar-and-grill-at-st-johns-and-utica-lasts-less-than-6-months/p1

I live off Utica now, and it seems to me like most of the newer residents are in their 30s versus 20s. And a lot of the restaurants that are in the area don't do any business on Seamless.

If that changes, you are likely to get a craft beer bar.

bump.    Just one of several developments likely to house people who have the desire and means to regularly drink craft beer at a bar...
