Year 1: The NYPD is prepared for a huge crowd. However, this is how crowded the streets were at 2:15.

I must have just missed you, @whynot_31. I walked through there around the same time. (I got a kick out of being able to walk in the middle of Flatbush Avenue without being run over.)

There was a bunch of stuff to do for kids, like rock climbing (inflatable rock wall), a ride, a bounce house.

There were cops on just about every corner along the route, so hopefully the neighborhood was reassured that nothing untoward was going to pop off. (I also two mounted cops by Lincoln Road around 5:15 pm.)

It's the inaugural block party/street fair. Hopefully it has time to grow. (I've seen a poster in Brooklyn Greenery that there will be a Beekman Place block party on August 1.)

At least the good news is that there was plenty of space to maneuver the route (as opposed to at the Atlantic Antic).

Heh, the mounts for the cops left quite a few presents on the street.  Which weren't cleaned up when the street re-opened around 7:30...

I grabbed a slice in the area and there seemed to be a good amount of people who had a fun time and were headed home.
