A few months ago, I wondered what this large garage space in a manufacturing zone would become:  http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/45320/if-i-was-going-to-open-a-food-coop-in-crown-heights-this-is-where-i-would-put-it-#Item_10

Now, I am pleased to report that a community woodshop has opened

For those not aware, here what this block used to look like. The building two doors to the left of the now woodshop was a methadone clinic.

Less than a year later, the woodshop is for lease:   https://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/off/5618069251.html

Really too bad.  I only noticed it some months ago while walking by, never heard or saw any publicity or mentions.  Could have been cool.  I know they had classes as well if I'm correct, and would have been great if they had kid-oriented classes (not using power saws of course).  Coulda shoulda woulda.

I like the concept, and was interested in seeing if it was going to survive.

They didn't do a lot of capital improvements to the site, so they may not have lost a lot of money.   ...They may just move their equipment to a different location and try again.

Their equipment was not new and they seemed to have a done it before; they seemed to have come TO Crown Heights from somewhere else.

Never even knew this place existed. I do my "work" where I can with the limited tools I have. Wish I would have known!

no highly visible signage on a part of classon that doesnt really get foot traffic, no postings or marketing in the various blogs or community sites I'd expect.  The lack of marketing might have killed what could have been pretty cool.

Even if they just picked up to move elsewhere as suggested, I'd think they'll have the same issues without a change in their communications approach.
