Can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced painter/plasterer who can do some work in our coop building?

    Hello Anita,

We have someone working on our building right now that came highly recommended and beat all of the other estimates by about 25-100%. If you can wait 3 days or so till they are finished, PM me and I'd be happy to provide you with the details.

From previous experience with this, a word of advice: watch out for some of the craigslist guys or the ones that advertise on bulletin boards, they'll give you a lowball estimate so they can get their foot in the door, then all of a sudden they "realize" they didn't include this and that...before you know it, the estimate is nearly double the original.

This is of course why you hire a licensed contractor and get a signed contract before the start of work that details EVERYTHING they will do, when they will finish, performance penalties for not finishing on time and the payment method and times. Details of what they do shouldn't just say "skim coat walls" theye should say pre prime all walls, cover all walls with fibergalass mesh and skim coat using a 60%/40% mixture of all purpose joint compound and plaster.
