It is that time of year again. The West Indian Day Carnival Association is once again organizing concerts and events behind the Brooklyn Museum.

In my mind, these events are quite distinct from the annual parade on Eastern Parkway and jourvert:

- One must often buy a ticket to get in

- When available, alcohol is sold from licensed vendors as opposed to people with coolers who have created nutcrackers.

- I am unaware of any of the events being marred by gunfire or violence of any kind.

- The concerts sell out quickly and often end around 3 AM.

Have fun! The weekend has a lot more events than just the ones the media seems to cover (the parade and jouvert).

Tonight is the event that the neighbors historically seem to dislike the most:

The Brassfest event lasts until 3 AM.

    Tickets are still available image
