Gas Smell?

There's a strong smell of gas this morning in Crown Heights, Bergen Street and Franklin Ave. area. I heard some sirens this AM before leaving for work. It was strong in my apartment/lobby/elevator but also strong outside. I don't think it was coming from my building, but it seems to have seeped in. Would appreciate any info that anyone has (have dogs at home - left windows open but now thinking that might be worse than shutting them and keeping the gas out...)

Did you call anyone?

I was about to call 911 but saw my neighbor who already had.

In other news, someone on the PLG group posted about a strong gas smell by Burger Mexicano on Flatbush Avenue. Some of the neighboring buildings were evacuated. it's good that there is increased awareness about this issue.
