where's the part where they actually break into the car? also, when i saw it was white kids i thought, "heroin". which is kind of racist and i am not sure why. 

As a result of working near Penn Station, I now routinely think "heroin" whenever I see a white couple that is under 35 and begging or engaged in some kind of hustle.  

Heroin is often a big player in such equations...
