Hi, just passed by 689 Washington Ave and saw some people doing some construction work at this late 9.30ish pm. Just wondering what's gonna be there.image

Yes, I have seen some construction happening there as well.

I assume it means that the large assemblage of properties that this was a part of has not found a buyer, or fell apart.

....but don't know what is coming yet.

I saw that as well this afternoon on my way to work. From the permit, I'm guessing that the constructor is Korean. Perhaps it will be a Korean restaurant or a Korean deli. Either way, it's gonna be a good addition to the neighborhood.

    Indeed.

Here's what the work permit lists:

"INTERIOR RENOVATION OF STORE AT 1ST FLOOR. WORK INCLUDES REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF NON BEARING PARTITIONS, PLUMBING FIXTURES, NEW WALK-IN BOX AT CELLAR & 1ST FLOOR. NO CHANGE IN USE, EGRESS, AND OCCUPANCY."

...permits issued to people with Korean last names

It appeared open already tonight. The menu looks Thai-ish.

Liquor, beer and wine is coming.   CB8 supported an application earlier this week.

This restaurant seems to have changed hands.

It is now calling itself "689", and has reapplied for an alcohol permit.

(alcohol permits can't be transferred from the prior owner to a new owner)

The restaurant was previously BYOB, so I don't think they ever got a liquor license.

Kind of sad that the new owner can't pick up the process from where the old owner left off.
