676 Franklin, near St Marks
whynot_31
Formerly the site of the ultra poorly run, Vicente Cafe: http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/39096/vicente39s-mexican-hookah-coming-to-676-franklin-next-to-indian-restaurant/p1
Now would like to become a bar under new ownership, with some kind of bowling aspect:
"Entity to be formed, 676 Franklin Avenue (St. Marks/Prospect) – Full (bowling center indicated"

whynot_31Here's what we are talking about

-
chekhovianThis is not the interior of the place formerly known as Vicente's, right? -
whynot_31That is merely a photo of mini bowling alleys for illustrative purposes. -
chekhovianAnd people have the gall to call Brooklynian boring. -
whynot_31edited May 2016Maybe we could make people believe that if they recruited new posters they would get 30 min of free bowling.
I like bowlers.
-
whynot_31Work is now underway to construct it. -
goldemi1Option to win something, we're in -
mcpoetA place to bowl in the area might be nice, though I'm not sure whether this space is large enough to fit an actual bowling alley. -
whynot_31I believe they will be installing mini alleys. Sample photo above. -
ehgeeThat's a good gimmick.
-
mcpoetIf the space was larger I'd say Tony should put one in the old Pioneer space south of EP. That'd be something new for the neighborhood. -
whynot_31edited August 2016A request to serve beer and wine has been filed by G&K WILDGINGER INDUSTRIES INC, which was formed back in April.

I would be surprised if they opened before they got their alc lic, so the above link is useful for stalking purposes.
Beer lic's are not hard to get, and construction seemed pretty far along when I last checked, so I would not be surprised if this opened by 9/15/2016.

whynot_31edited September 2016Folks, it appears that the business model and owners may have changed.Wild Ginger is reportedly an asian/vegan restaurant, which seems inconsistent with a miniature bowling alley. -
epiclylaterdIf it's the same Wild Ginger that I'm thinking of, they already have locations in Manhattan and Williamsburg. We ate at the Williamsburg location and it was pretty good. Vegan "asian"
-
whynot_31Yes, it is reportedly one location of several. -
crownheightsterThere is a Wild Ginger in Great Neck, Long Island. -
pragmaticguyAlso one in Rockville Center

whynot_31edited April 2017Same as Wild Ginger ...Lu Anne's Wild Ginger! -

whynot_31edited May 2017Grand opening is tomorrow, Friday. May 26. -
howncreightsI hear good things about their other locations. Solid neighborhood asian vegan. -
mcpoetOrdered from there the other day. Solid food. Definitely worth ordering from again in the future. -
Marco555Same. Ordered pickup and they got everything right, if that's meaningful to anyone. -
whynot_31Ms Whynot and I ate in on Friday evening. It was yummy. It was as good as our our favorite Indian, Kimboda (?) on Washington. -
VanderbillyNimbooda! That's my favorite indian too
