Washington Avenue Rocks, Sunday, August 21st

I'm surprised this keeps happening each year. It's unfortunately always such a let down - sparsely attended and confusing in its purpose.

It is a much smaller event than similar fairs in Ditmas Park and elsewhere.    I suspect it has a budget of less than $5k

Let's see if a schedule increases attendance:

I'll take my kids by to check it out, but after the last two years, I'm shocked someone is still funding this festival. It's essentially one block (from Prospect to St. Marks) with one "major" stage and a handful of vendors. Walked through last year and there were probably no more than 50-100 festival-goers. At least seems like there are some interesting performers tomorrow, so I'll check it out again.

The photos seem to indicate attendance was not high this year.

Probably didn't help that it was scheduled the same day as the One Crown Heights festival, complete with multi-ages 5-on-5 basketball tournament and multiple food trucks. That festival was fairly busy and, as advertised, was a refreshing mix of local black and Chabad families.

I suspect the organizers of Washington Rocks will claim it was a success, despite its low attendance.
