as of late july 2016:

- chuko is now gone, moving to the space previously occupied by bar chuko down the street. the for rent sign advertises the full kitchen included. im still holding out hope for a 24 hr diner to land there but i dont think the rental terms are conducive to that

- korean restaurant previously called bopsot whose storefront was destroyed by a car in november last year, is in the process of rebuilding and (still) waiting on city paperwork

- the hair salon with orange awning is being renovated by a company to be named "Treat Yourself". looks like it will be serving food, they've installed a sink, a serving counter and there are fridge units in there. hope its not another dessert spot, as we're saturated with that now with 2 new pie shops, that new cafe next to the barber shop, ample hills and cupcakes within 3 blocks.

- the mayo store is now closed. it's such a tiny space, who knows what can go in there.

- the long abandoned storefront next to the vanderbilt that used to be a medical supply shop and looked like a dungeon inside has a new shiny interior that looks like it will be a restaurant. they have new floor tiles down, tables and chairs, looks like the kitchen is still under construction

I think an upscale sandwich place could survive in the old Chuko space.

    With a beer license.

Fresh Direct and Omaha Steaks may have killed our chances of getting a butcher.

Here is the site I am watching:   579 Vanderbilt.   It is presently apartments on the ground floor, but that will soon change.
