As per @crownheightser

"So, last week I saw a ton of sheetrock being moved into the 713-723 "Palace" building at Nostrand and Sterling. Workers said that they were fixing up the place to be rented, and doing a lot of repairs to the basement systems, walls, and ceilings. I think the owner is fixing up the place with hopes of a serious renter."

Previously, this location was the site of a nightclub for high school age kids: http://brooklynian.com/discussion/37971/police-activity-nostrand-and-park-place-3-28-2013#latest

What about a gym, like a planet fitness on the top floor.  Or a great loft apt(s).

I would *kill* for an affordable gym in that location. Our neighborhood desperately needs one.

If it had an elevator, a large medical practice might be interested.

    I was thinking...maybe Tribeca Pediatrics?

The space could also quickly become a coworking site.

Some bathrooms, some cubicles, a lot of wifi and tada

Ha! It was built as a billards and bowling Academy! Just before the depression hit.

First floor corner space (formerly Song's) is in process of becoming upscale grocer. Might be larger footprint.

    BTW, did Tinto's close?

@whynot_31 No, Tinto is still open. I grabbed a cup of coffee from there this afternoon.

The gates were up last time I walked by - it's a big space! Big row of freezers/coolers for a cold foods section along the back wall, shelves, what looks like a pretty well-equipped deli counter against the wall closest the window with a big blackboard above it for specials. The shelves were in place but nothing was stocked yet. Sweet young kid in there (maybe 9/10 years old) told me they plan to open next week. Screen Shot 2017-09-24 at 6.17.35 PM

Last night, they had stocked the shelves with non-perishables. So, yes, opening is not far away at all.

I kind of hate the Thunder Deli. Why does their garish sign have to BLINK all night long, too?

Thunder Deli: http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/47432/bodega-at-725-nostrand-and-sterling-bites-the-dust I can't say I have been in, but Thunder deli does not seem like it carries vegetables. I suspect Organic Valley will have some.

I am incredibly disappointed in Organic Valley Food Mart. They have a nice array of organic, local, and bougie dry goods, including flours, beans, honey, etc, which is okay. But their fresh food is pitiful. Small selection, produce in bad shape. Compared to Song's, which had great produce and an almost entirely healthful food selection, Organic Valley is a real downgrade to me.

Their fancy potato chip collection is pretty stellar.

Maybe the fresh selection is small, but I really dig this store. Lots of great stuff.
