This small shop has been under construction for a little while, and I wonder if it is the one @tsarina has heard is going to be a Japanese coffee shop.

BTW, how is a Japanese coffee shop different than a regular one?

The Japanese cafe is around the corner on Bergen. This corner store will be an office.

Walked by last night. There's an awning up that with the name, "Cafe Cotton Bean".

Lots of text on the owner's kick starter page.

Here a sample: "Cotton Bean is the birth of my dream to create a community that shared a love of the good "snack" foods I enjoyed as a young girl in Japan, while enjoying the amazing flavors I've discovered over the last decade in New York. Who am I? Mayumi, a Japanese entrepreneur who is a mother, artist, creator and foodie. Rice balls, coffee and maccha jellos topped with ice cream and simple syrup are after lunch snacks I loved, and have found my American friends love too! Breads with a range of flavors like curry, melt in your mouth under soft French techniques. In a rush? Our snack bento boxes offer several popular options in one place. Perfect for those on the go or those who want to slow down to savor a bit of Japan in Brooklyn. My truest dream is to help you love what I love. Join me at my culinary table and welcome to Cotton Bean!

The answer relates, in large part, to how well she navigates the DOH.

The good news is that it sounds like she won't need venting, which would have complicated things.

Rachel should buy us pastries as a result of us practically writing this story for her: https://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20161202/crown-heights/cafe-cotton-bean-opens-crown-heights-with-japan-inspired-menu
