Someone has finally moved on this vacant restaurant.   Work permits indicate another restaurant will be residing there soon.

Perhaps if the new owner is a reader they will let us know what's coming.

Some digging indicates the owner of the restaurant will be Adina Moss, who has formed Moss Restaurant Group.

    866 Eastern Parkway.

I believe this will be the location of Alenbi, a new restaurant from Elior Balbul, a chef from Israel. From what I've heard, the concept is a more upscale re-imagining of classic Mediterranean/Israeli foods like hummus, felafel, etc., like Timna, Bar Bolonat, and Zahav. It will be kosher, but open to all :)

Modern Israeli sounds promising if it's anything like the new Miss Ada in Ft. Greene, which was friggin amazing when we ate there. But kosher is already a warning sign to me.

Saw some people hanging out with doors open in a spot on east side of Nostrand at Crown. Looks like a restaurant or bar inside. White subway tiles and pendant lights. I didn't notice any permits but I was moving quickly. Anyone know what's happening?

pricey. is that because it's meant for large groups or is this the standard absurdly high kosher prices i always hear about?

It's pretty expensive for even kosher aka it's obviously aiming for very high end. You can look at Reserve Cut (kosher steakhouse in Wall Street that services those on expense accounts) for comparison

Izzy's bbq on Troy provides a benchmark for me: https://www.izzyssmokehouse.com A casual dining kosher meal in Crown Heights is going to run you a minimum of $25.

Pricey. Is it one of those restaurants that includes gratuity in the prices? I recently went to Faun on Vanderbilt, which does that, and was pleasantly surprised at how fair it all was.

Pricey! Is that in USD or Shekels?

I'll admit, I've laughed at the prices on the menu of many establishments along Franklin Ave. that have opened the past few years. Almost all the 'pricey' restaurants have remained in business and seem to have a waiting list whenever I try dining at their 'pricey' establishment. Expensive dining in Crown Heights is hardly news.

One of my best friends is the sous chef! Went in over the weekend after my husband ran the marathon and had one of the most delicious meals we've had in a long time. Definitely a must try!
