The much-maligned New York Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury is getting props with a new $14.98 sneaker designed to appeal to low-income kids at a time when highly-marketed $149.98 sneakers are commonplace. The shoe is sufficiently serious that Marbury has pledged to wear it in his NBA games this season. Marbury says his motivation was rooted in discussions he had with Knicks General Manager Isaiah Thomas about the civil rights movement and Marbury's eventual legacy.

that is reeeeeeally impressive. it's about time an athlete-star picked up the consumerism gauntlet. good for him!

Along with these sneakers he is also launching a clothing line with most of the items under $15. I know he made a fan out of me as well as many parents with more than 1 child.
