dry cleaners, anyone?

Does anyone know of a competent dry cleaner in Park Slope or Prospect Heights? Thanks so much!

while we're asking, how about a place that can be trusted with fancy two-tone dyed suede?

somebody told me to go to Art Bag on Madison Ave, but I'd rather keep my dry cleaning in Brooklyn . . .

I don't know a good place to suggest, but I would urge you NOT to go to any of the Happy Cleaners branches. Several months back they lost like a dozen of my bras and the owner first stalled for three weeks and then offered me an insultingly low compensation -- something like $7 each. On what planet can you get a decent underwire for seven bucks?! And then he stopped returning my calls altogether. I would have taken him to small claims court, but I was dealing with moving and a bunch of other stuff and just never got to it.

I think that I'm going to rephrase my question: is there a better dry cleaner in Park Slope than Plaza Cleaners? The owners of this institution have told me that I am the only person who has ever complained about poorly cleaned or lost items. Maybe it's my Canadian accent that makes them think that I'm naive. Has anyone else had bad experiences with this establishment?

I like Brownstone Cleaners on 7th Ave between 9th and 10th Streets. They get stuff clean, they've never lost or ruined any of my stuff, and they do good alterations (simple stuff anyway; I haven't used them for anything complicated).

Carroll Cleaners (7th btw Carroll and Garfield) are great. Super nice ladies at the front and excellent service.
