If any of you are happy with your GYN, even if they're not in Prospect Heights/Park Slope area, please leave their number! I'm new to the area, and I need one fairly urgently. Thank you in advance so very much.

Someone recommended these people to me, but I haven't been to see them yet. They're in Manhattan but you could take the B.

Mine is in Manhattan, but I love her and have recommended her widely, and everyone has been happy with her so far.

I highly recommend Dr. Millicent Comrie, though it can take awhile to get an appointment, and you must be prepared to wait on the day of your appointment. Still, she's fast, thorough and professional.

    Subject: Park Slope Midwife

I've been happy with Park Slope Midwife, right on 7th Avenue. Several CRNs, CPNs, and OB-GYNs in the Group.

I saw a gynocologist named Eden Fromberg, whose office is right at #1 Prospect Park West (just off Grand Army Plaza, by the park). She was great - level headed, intelligent and progessive. I liked her. 718-399-7500. I think she also has an office in downtown Manhattan.

Bluh. Have made numerous attempts to reach the place my friend recommended...can't get through. Well, that's a bad sign.

I googled her and the first hit was this document, which is some sort of charge of professional misconduct. I have a feeling that this doesn't make her the worst gyno of all time*, but it still raises an eyebrow.

Cupcake, if you are still looking at this, do you mind my asking if you have gone to Park Slope midwife for GYN rather than OB purposes? Their website seems very childbirth oriented and mostly talks about the nurses/midwives. I just want someplace convenient to go and get a checkup/prescription.

If anyone else is still looking, this page, though OB-oriented, looks useful.

*For example, my mother's OB, who delivered me, was later convicted of hiring a hitman to murder her husband. True story.

Here is the allegation of professional misconduct:

So I saw. I just couldn't figure out, based on skimming, whether the organization sending the letter was required to do so anytime someone complains, or whether the document implies that the organization thought it was a serious problem. There was something in there about her getting a "censure and reprimand, two years probation and continuing medical education," which sounds real.

Eden Fromberg was recommended to me too a while back... I was a bit worried when I googled her name and found that same misconduct info. But I have to say, I have gone to her twice since, and she's one of the best OB/GYNs I have been too. Great bedside manner, really thoughtful and well versed in both traditional and alternative medical/ birthing methods. She is no longer at the Prospect Park location - she's now at SoHo OB/GYN - http://www.sohoobgyn.com/. They don't take insurance there, so I was pretty bummed that I couldn't go to her anymore (and had to switch doctors -again!). But I just saw Bernadith Russell - who I also really liked. She has 2 offices in Brooklyn and is affiliated with LICH; I went to the one on Pierrepont St. in the Heights. I highly recommend her... (718) 852-9180.

I've been to Park Slope Midwives for purely the GYN aspects and have been satisfied with my experiences. Yes, it is a little heavy on the photos of babies all over the walls, but that doesn't bother me.

Thank you both for following up! Yeah, someplace that doesn't take insurance isn't going to work for me. Oh well. I think I'm going to try the midwives place.

She was HIGHLY recommended to me by my internist and I like her a lot. She's quite busy, so unless it's an emergency, you typically have to wait awhile for a first appointment. But after that, she's pretty accessible.

I see Dr. Zoe Rodriguez at Beth Israel, right on Union Square (212-844-8500). She's very straightforward (once I asked her about a type of medication and her response was "That stuff is crap!" and then she recommended something else I've been quite happy with). Also, her hands are warm, which is of utmost importance in a gyno. I like her.

I second Nativegal's recommendation of Dr. Linda Sese on 8th Avenue. She's fast, professional and will answer all your questions. Also, the location is super convenient for us PH'res. I've been very happy with my experiences there. (718) 636-5900

I'm not quite sure I know what you mean. She's acted as both my GP and GYN the whole time I've lived here...she's taken care of all my "girly" appointments as well as my regular physicals/when I'm sick/etc. On the card for the practice it says "Internal Medicine and Family Practice". Personally I like using one person for everything as much as I can...I feel like they know you and your medical history better that way.

By the way, she's out of town this week and I was sick yesterday...I got an appointment with her partner immediately and waited no more than ten minutes in the waiting room, even though he was pulling double duty.
