Subject: What's up with Liquors on Dekalb?

they've had a sign in the window forever saying they're doing repairs (or something like that) since last winter. What gives?

We had a thread on it earlier this year. Some people in the 'hood heard that it's closed for good. I consider it an empty storefront ripe for the taking.

hey - i checked out the prior postings and they don't really say what happened. I am curious if anyone actually knows... I liked the food and remember that they had a cool looking garden.

I always thought the service and food at Liquors was average. Nothing memorable but nothing I could point out as glaringly offensive, if that makes any sense. Now I find myself missing it because the papered-up windows are such an eyesore on that block.

this is what i heard. it's been closed for going on a year now, come xmas/new years. apparently, it closed suddenly on xmas... they "closed" for xmas, and the holiday or whatevs, and then never reopened... this also included them never telling their staff that they wouldnt be reopening. because everyone knows that if you tell your waitstaff around the holidays that you will be closing shop, they will jump ship if they know they wont have a job after a certain day. so to kill two birds, the owners just closed, neglecting to give their waitstaff any warning.

same thing happened with bodegas on fulton, which they also owned.

my friend used to work at liquors, and that's what happened to her friend that worked there during closing time.

Yeah it is messed up. So no one's actively renovating it? At the very least someone could turn it back into what it used to be, a cheap, dependable neighborhood liquor store.

It's a great space -- someone ought to do something with it.
