The delivery guy told us. End of the month. The owner just doesn't want to do it anymore. He, the delivery guy, and the chef will be going to Hunan Wok on 7th bet. President and Union.

The owner changes the place alot. My guess is he will open a fruit and veggie store to replace the one that burned down a few years ago on 7th Ave bet Union and Berkeley.

Speaking of Hunan Wok, have you checked out it's new menu, available on www.menupages.com?

The menu is all over the place, offering everything from "Vegetarian Shrimp In Garlic Sauce" and "Torn Yum Soup" to "Asparagua with garlic sauce" and "House Teriyaki Salmon Fish." Don't forget to order "String Bean or Squid."

Three years ago, my friends complained that Hunan Work served them "fresh, seasonal" soft shell crabs that were frozen inside.

Anyone know how good Hunan Wok's food does or does not tastes today?

I was just there last night and there was so much traffic. It seemed that business was good there. Am I wrong? Do you think that lack of profit is a factor in the decision to close? Or the owner really wanted to do something else? Odd.

I'm really disappointed to hear that Mr. Wonton will be closing. My family found its food to be consistently good. Other Chinese places in the Slope have been iffy.

Maybe since some of the cooks are going to the other place on 7th Ave. (according to an earlier post) things will look up.

    Hope you're right, Gigi.

Does anyone remember when Charles and Henry worked at the vegetarian Chinese place called Tofu on 7th? Anyone know what happened to them? The food was really good while they were there.

yeah, the "fresh, seasonal" soft shell crabs sign is hanging in the window all year.
