Subject: ny times piece about o'connor's

there was a nice piece in the metro section about pat o'connor's passing today. i was really happy to see an article about him because he truly was an amazing person. also it would have been nice to hear more from charlie the bartender or bart, who both knew him a long time. and it was odd that he was referred to as patrick, since everyone called him part. the photo included augie, who has this zelig-like ability to turn up at these sort of events and be in the photo.

Quite right. Pat O'Connor was a unique man. There is so much more to Pat than that article could ever include. When you went to O'Connor's with Pat behind the bar, you got a slice of Brooklyn that even 15 years ago was nearly extinct. Guess the people on this forum never knew Pat when he was in his prime. He stopped tending bar at night full-time years ago. His presence in Brooklyn will definitely be missed.

Wow. I read the times article. Gotta hand it to Pat, he was the last of the great old-time bartenders. Glad that I knew him as I did.
