Good Gyms?

I checked out the new one going up on Fulton (Ft. Greene Sports & Fitness). Looks okay, but a little shishi, and won't be done until September.

Any other, more basic options in the immediate area? I'm aware of the NYSC and NYSC in cobble hill / Boerum Hill.

I don't have a car, btw, so walking distance is of import.

Unfortunately there's not much to choose from. The opening of the Fulton gym has been continuously delayed and I wouldn't put my money on it finally opening in Sept. For years I went to the Eastern Athletic Club over in B Heights b/c it had a bball court, but now they tore the courts down.

    Subject: i think

if you're a woman, there may be a curves or a lucille roberts on the second or third floor of the building on fulton/flatbush ave. extension. every time i'm in my car making a left turn onto fulton, i notice it.

Not a woman. I suppose the walk to the YWCA isn't that bad - do they have a traditional weight lifting area?

I'll continue to converse with myself in here. :)

Anyway, joined Ft. Greene Health & Fitness last night - today (9/1) is their "official opening." When I went last night to sign up, they were adding all the freeweight equipment and finishing up some things, so it's looking pretty good right now.
