I am considering moving to an apartment on dean st. and revere place between kingston and albany. Its a two bedroom with an additional smaller room that can be used as an office. they want $1600 utilities not included do you think this to pricey and should I look elsewhere?

should be less since you are going very far in already. for that price you can get a 2br in prospect heights :).

Hello all...just wanted to say this forum has really helped make my Brooklyn transition much easier. Reading some of the older posts has also helped me get to know my neighborhood (CH) better. To the point: $1600 is way too much for that location. I'm paying $1250 for a 2-bd on Albany btween St. Johns and Sterling. I saw a place for rent a block above St. Johns on Albany Ave. and I doubt if that place rents anywhere near $1600.

rule of thumb should be how far you have to commute to mahattan the farther it is the cheaper the rent.

Way too close to the Albany Houses and Weeksville Houses for me.

You can say that again. And it's overpriced.

Is this the large house right on the corner that's being completely gut renovated? I live across the street. So IMO, a large 2.5 BR, esp. if it's brand-new inside and has some amenities, $1,600 doesn't seem too terribly outrageous. It's a gorgeous building (as are most of them), and that block is nice, despite its out-thereness and the proximity to the Albany Houses.
