You gotta download the Cooliris plug-in for Firefox 2.o

Allows you to view linked pages before going to them!

    A must have...

    Yippy!

Awesome plug-in! Great for skimming the news, search engine results, etc. But there will be pages where you'll prefer it disabled!

Are there any mac users out there using FF2? I've notice a feature that seems to be gone, and I'm wondering if anyone else has figured out how to turn it back on...

You used to be able to click-and-hold on a picture or link and it would be like right-clicking in windows (you'd get options like "properties", "copy link" "copy link location" etc.). Now nothing happens. I want this feature back!!!!

Indeed. I use lynx and w3m nearly as often as GUI-based, but couldn't pick multiple options :(

This is happening for me too! Rrrgh. Did you download the Cooliris plugin, Carnivore? Anotherdayinbkln? I did as soon as I downloaded Firefox, so I wonder whether that has to do with the missing click-and-hold options.

I also downloaded Cooliris right away, although I'm not as enthusiastic about the plugin as some. I was suspecting that might be the problem, so I disabled it, and that didn't fix it.
I might try uninstalling it next.

Mac here, newly FF2 with no plug-ins, and no click-and-hold properties either.
That is the only thing I miss from PCs . . .
    BAH!

For the record, I've always had Macs at home, but suffer through the PCs at work.

It's funny, Mr.M, Carnivore and I had the same discussion over the weekend. I never knew you could click and hold - I ALWAYS ctrl-clicked.

Is it possible that only 10% of you are running Internet Explorer?

Or are Firefox users the only ones proud/vain/geeky enough to bother reporting what browser they use? Or is it that regular users simply aren't aware of the issue? I've talked to more than one person who had no idea what "brand" of browser they were using.

    Q. What browser are you running?
Average user: "The INTERNET browser. Duh."

I only use IE when I use Citrix from my PC at home. I run Firefox at home and at work, except on the Mac, where I run Safari (though I have Opera, IE and Firefox installed) because it's just easier for my lazy self. I'm multi-browsered, and IE is my least favorite/most hated.

i use FF for personal browsing
but IE commands about 90% of the browser audience at work, so i use IE to ensure my work looks good on IE

what do the site logs say about visitors to brooklynian?

Or even: "what's a browser?" I suspect a lot of people who use browsers don't know what a browser is, let alone that there might be more than one kind, let alone that they probably have a choice on their particular model of computer, let alone that it might be worth changing when the one they've got seems to work ok. You just paid all this money for a computer that works out of the box; why would you want to waste time fiddling with what you don't understand and aren't interested in? Either that, or it's a work computer, and the IT department is supposed to take care of all that internet stuff.

I have found that FF has been the most stable of the mozilla based browsers. Safari has some nice touches, but typically craps out on any complex scripting interfaces, especially back end CMS WYSIWYG interfaces.

That being said, we always test on IE (mac/pc), Netscape (mac/pc), Safari and FF...normally don't both with Opera.

I wish Apple would do more with Safari!

Dumb question, I think. Love FF's new spell checker, but how the heck does one get it to work!?! Letting me know what a dumb-assed speller I can be is fine. Helping me over my handy cap by fixing it for me is essential ;)

I am sure this is a dumb question, but I have been running the regular FF for a year now and love it. I just downloaded Version 2, but, don't see a mil tab on my toolbar nor do i see a way to insert one. how do I get into my Outlook mail from now on?

Right-click on the misspelled words and suggestions will appear, just like in MS Word.

I'm digging the downloadable dictionaries for foreign languages that you can swap between without restarting the browser! I've got English, German, and French so far.

Ahh, right click eh? On a Mac, but lemmie try the control key and click...

Yippy! So for Mac folks, hold the "control" key down and click on the field or word. :)
