Development on Columbia between Degraw and Kane

Don't know if this should go here or BoCoCa board, but what the hey, I'm feeling it as Red Hook today (esp. with the mess they've made of Columbia with the widening)...Does anybody know whats going up on Columbia between Degraw and Kane? There was a big vacant lot there (through which the 60 Tiffany condos got thier downtown Manhattan view). Just drove by on my way to work this morning and they've got plywood up blocking the site. (Looked at the 60 Tiffany condos a while back and asked the agent as to what plans were in store for the potential view stealer. Was met by daggers of fire shooting out of her eyes...ouch! Glad now I was too poor to bite.)

Which side of Columbia? The west side is supposed to become part of the waterfront greenway although the city is trying to do a bait & switch and use part of the land for housing even though the community board has been promising red hook residents there would be no housing on the water as part of the redevelopment of the Piers.

East side of Columbia. They've started excavation behind the wall and have a trailer jutting out into Columbia with real fancy orange spray painted "No Parking" signs surrounding it. Just north of the live chicken / guinea pig market. Mmmm, guinea.

I've heard the same about the west side of the street. I think that any type of water access would be great, and of course it'd be nicer if it was all greenway, but with this administration and looking to whats going down with the BB Park just north, that ain't gonna happen.
