queencallipygosI stayed home for the first time in my life ever (I've usually gone to join my family in Cape Cod -- and when you think about it, not only do you get the family thing happening, but: seriously, Cape Cod on Thanksgiving is kind of perfect). This year I'm involved in a play that had a performance on that Friday, and the travel to and from the Cape is a hassle, and half the family wasn't showing up anyway due to various illnesses and we were just going to hit a restaurant anyway, and my own father said "You know, you may want to consider just blowing it off this year and make it easy on yourself."
I had a small turkey breast and a couple friends over. I also live a half a block from Jive Turkey and was very amused to see the lines outside the night before. -
carnivoreYou could always do a turkey sandwich from the deli and a bag of Craisins. Which would be funny, except I've actually done that before when I've had to work on Thanksgiving. -

forcing people to work on thanksgiving should be a federal offense (some professions exempted).
my friend used to be an i-banker and they made him work for like 24 hours straight on thanksgiving one year. that was pretty much the final straw which pushed him out of the industry.
i-banking was invented by the devil. -

boygabrielIt's the best holiday. It's the most honest holiday. It's about food and family. Xmas pretends to be about religion.
Although I suppose t-day pretends to be about goodwill between a group of people and those they perpetrated genocide on. -
hill38Oh man, I've seen the Jive Turkey lines...you're right, queencallipygos, that's a sight to behold.
Cape Cod, hmm? I'm gonna have to PM you for spring break!

Heh; fair warning that these days I seem to only go to Cape Cod during the winter. It's just shaken down that way.
