Not for living, but I am about to set up a small office space by Montgomery btwn Washington and Franklin, off from the BBG.
I dont know the borders but I assume this counts as Crown Heights.
I am not familiar to the area except seeing the place once.
Whats the area like??,
and any good places for food and such..
went down to empire, just fast food, not exciting area. maybe more east around Bedford?
thanks.
:)

Lots of west indian food in the area--jerk chicken, roti, beef patties.

Be careful walking around at night.

any other feedback? even though it would be daytime, my girlfriend might need to go there by herself often, so trying to learn more about this west area below eastern parkway. Also streets to avoid and if she is better off walking down from the 3 or up from the Q
    thanks again

you have a few restaurants on Bedford right next to the College.. and on Frankllin there's a pretty okay pizza joint. the chinese food place on Union & Franklin is the better one of them all. On that block there's also an amazing Jamaican place. Ty, the owner's wife is super-cool, and their oxtail is off-the..!!!!
There's a Golden Crust on the corner of Franklin. Their patties are great and so are their muffins, but beware of their coffee, it's horrendous!
Sal's across the street has the best breakfast EVER, and he remembers you order if you're there more than twice.

    Hm... other than that?

    Welcome to the hood.

thanks. I took a walk down Franklin yesterday from the 5 train.
I remember seeing those places, as well as a Subway. Since the chinese place was close I might try that.
I think I really stood out coming down Franklin, but at least I dont think safety should be an issue since I will only around afternoon/early eves.
is generally the whole area(and going to the Q since its closer) fine, good to know since my girlfriend will be going there, as well as my staff as it expands.
    thanks again

The Renaissance Cafe on the corner of Crown and Bedford is undergoing an expansion and (as I've been told by the owner) is looking to become a nice sit down joint. Also, Tavern on Nostrand is great.

    Pureistheword,
just keep your head down low and pretend like you aren't really there. you are really venturing out into the "unknown" part of the neighborhood and i'm psyched that you don't have to stick around after sunset. your girlfriend is in risk of being attacked by vampires there. there is a really great stake shop near empire boulevard. for your safety and your girlfriend's, i really recommend checking it out to be sure you are okay after sunset. especially around franklin. spooky as shit there.

I was never a big fan of Buffy but that other girl, the brunette who was also a cheerleader at Rancho Carne High School, she was HOT!
