What do I do... The people who live in the apartment next to mine have left for the weekend, but neglected to turn off their alarm clock, which was set for 3:30am and our bedrooms share a wall... any suggestions...

Call 311? Create white noise with a fan in the meantime

Check with the super. The super may have the key to the apartment and could turn off the alarm.

Plus, leave a message on their machine. Maybe they'll hear it and a local friend with keys can come turn it off.

If you had access to the fuse box and knew which one is connected to the alarm, you could re-set it.

I think those options (or the calling the landlord one that Carnivore suggested) would be a lot more neighborly than calling the city on them.

Plan to do the same when you leave town.

Your other neighbors might not appreciate that approach to the problem.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine in college. Except they were gone for like 2 weeks.
At least you have a funny story to tell now...!

The SAME thing had happened to me a couple years back. The alarm clock was set to Big Band music and lasted the whole weekend, blaring horns right next to the wall where I laid my head. We called 311 and the cops came and unplugged the stereo. Later on the Super (we weren't sure who he was) had told us that he wished we had notified him first.
