so, i put a partial payment down on the newyorker loveseat after checking it out at the company's fulton st. location. i've been looking for something like it for a long time and couldn't find anything within my budget.

i was feeling good about it until i got home, sat at my computer and happened to google, "jennifer convertible and complaints" . o-m-g. i am stunned by all the terrible things people had to say about the unreliable delivery times/dates, their lifetime repair service, etc.

am now having beginning signs of buyer remorse pangs and, if possible, i am considering backing out. anyone have a similar experience with these guys?

I looked at their stuff before I got my sofabed, and wasn't too impressed. I wound up getting one from Carlyle, which has been awesome. It's a bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for. I've had mine for about 7 years, and it's in great shape. I opted for the extra-thick mattress, and think it was worth it. None of my guests has ever complained, and I've slept on it before and found it quite comfortable. And the styles at Carlyle are way better than Jennifer.

It doesn't say what brand it is anywhere on it. The only way you'd know is by sleeping on it.

Even so...sounds pretty fancy. I made my couch out of dead wood and stray pigeon feathers that I collected in the park.

way to denude the environment of its natural resources.

yeah, i was never very impressed with their styles either. aethetically, this one actually seemed to fit the bill for me.

it is not a sofa bed though and it seems like a pretty solid piece of furniture, i'll see if i can post a pic of it later.

not sure what i'm going to do yet.

Jennifer's stuff is not of the highest quality but it is not that bad either. I just purchased a couch from them (not a sleeper) for my sloppy TV/Den room. My last couch from Jennifer lasted almost 10 years before it started falling apart. We also purchased a better quality sleeper from Plaza Furniture for guests. Plaza has alot of apartment sized couches and sleepers.

I ordered the loveseat from this collection:

10 years is not a bad deal. We are basically looking for a temporary solution while trying to steer clear of ikea and the like.

Thanks, looks like we're keeping it. :)

Did you get their lifetime shield guarantee?

I got the couch and the ottoman from the same selection... And yes I was suckered into the lifetime protection.

It is nice simple stuff and pretty cheap!

So how's it holding up so far? Suckered into the liftetime protection, eh, what makes you think so? I am actually considering it since the shade of the fabric is lighter than I've ever had before.

Plus, I'd feel better knowing the sofa would be covered after a potential wine spilling incident.

The couch is being delivered on the 9th. But we are slobs and the couch doubles as a dining room table and we have cats. And it is a light color and we bought the ottoman... I will probably keep it covered anyway...

My old couch held up really well. I had the protection put on that one.

Stay on top of them about the delivery.....I ordered a couch from them and dealt with their Bay Ridge location and it took forever to show up. :(

We were pretty satisfied with the quality/comfort, though I wish I'd gotten the upholstery protection...

Don't worry - that's what the other side of the cushion is for!

When I first moved to PH, I ordered a closeout set of sofabed and captain's chair from their showroom floor on 57th St and Broadway.. was lucky too because 5 minutes later, someone else wanted the exact same set. They delivered the day they said they would deliver, and was delivered pretty early in the morning. Haven't had a single problem since, and this was 3 years ago, it's still as good as the day I bought it.

Guess I might be the except to the rule, or it could be that I bought it from a midtown Manhattan location instead of Brooklyn.

I called my sales rep at the showroom this afternoon and told him, after taking the day off for the delivery, I would be hunting him down should my sofa not arrive on Fri.
