I've never been there, but the inspection in May wasn't too bad:

Are you kidding? I never liked that place because the waiters were so rude it was comical and the food was mediocre at best. Despite that, I'm actually surprised to learn that Amin might have also had god knows what kind of nastiness going on in the kitchen....I must be an idiot to be surprised.

I walked by earlier this week and they had a sign saying they were closed due to plumbing. Plumbing is also mentioned as a problem on their last inspection report. I guess they never got it fixed or the problem returned enough to shut the place down.

Even if they pass inspections, I don't believe it's very good Indian food.

I'm just glad Kinara comes in an acceptable (to me, at least) 11 points. Since I've tried them I haven't really felt the need to order from any other Indian place.

    Drano,

    Where, pray tell, is Kinaro?

Bombay Grill is pretty good, at least for delivery.

Good stuff. Their vindaloo is actually a little challenging (in a good way) and I don't fool around when it comes to my spicy.

Is the the Indian Restaurant on 7th b/t 10th and 11th? I've had AWFUL experiences with take out and/or delivery there. The food that shouldn't be is always cold and BLAND. Never again.

Hmmm, that hasn't been my experience at all, and we order from them pretty often. Just picked up food from there Friday night, actually, and it was good. Though -- I was drunk. :)

I'd have to agree that Bombay Grill is awful. Bland, bland, bland. Kinara is not much better. The Slope is severely lacking when it comes to good Indian.

Note: I haven't tried the Vindaloo at Kinara's. Maybe their meat entrees are better, but I've had no success with vegetarian Indian food anywhere in the Slope. Actually, Bombay Grill's Saag Paneer has to be the worst I've had.

Agreed. I go to Murray Hill in Manhattan for excellent Indian food at kosher, vegetarian restaurants, like Madras Mahal.
