Yeah.......................................................every once in a while, I force myself to read her even though she drives me straight up a wall. I knew that she was compiling something, but wasn't aware that it was complete. It's very...celeb-u-tastic, no? But not entirely surprising.

I don't read her unless somebody points out something "worth" reading.

I'm surprised she didn't put herself on the list.

    also:
Speaking as someone who spent 20+ years growing up in Park Slope, I'd like to point out that exclusive, name-dropping, ego-flexing lists like this are completely antithetical to what used to make Park Slope great-- that is, a spirit of equality and fraternity between everyone who lived there.

Instead of calling it the Park Slope 100, it would have been better to title it "100 people OTBKB is friends/colleagues/associates with". Seriously, it's so endlessly biased and self-serving that there's really no place to begin commenting on it-- but it's worth observing that while your husband made the list, people who do a hell of a lot more for the neighborhood did not.

So, please, do us all a favor and never put something like this together again. It's just a ridiculous idea, and makes you look silly.

I'm surprised Jennifer Connelly isn't on there (maybe I missed her). I'm not going to be too snarky though, since I know and like a few of the people on the list, including my daughter's amazing drama teacher.

Yeah, the tribute to The Clay Pot was a a bit much.

She might have taken the time to find out that the Blue Haired Woman at Shawn's Liquors is named Hillary, and maybe she does know, but then she couldn't impress us with how cool she is by thinking blue hair is cool.

    1) Lotta filler in there.

    2) She corrected the thing about Hillary. Does it mean I'm drinking too much when I'm on a first name basis with the liquor store clerks?

    3) Good to know that wifey and I (and frankly, most of the people we know) are among the apparent "few" who can exist without a nanny. We must hang with a weird crowd.

Sheesh. Gawker vs. OTBKB. The ultimate battle of starfucker assholes. Talk about a fight where there's no one to root for.

I was thinking of getting one, and I don't even have kids...

It was pointed out to me about 10 minutes ago that OTBKB has posted a response to criticism of her List, including Dictionary.com links for the definitions of "elitist" and "sycophant".

Hey, arguing about a list is 90% of the fun. I hope she didn't take things too personally...

She has a very thin skin. Much as she annoys me, it's her blog and she should put up whatever kind of list she wants and stop apologizing and being defensive about it. Her desperate need to have everyone's approval is a big part of what makes her annoying.

I'm sure she could give a shit about what people say. For some reason, every time she comes up here, people's criticisms sound more and more close minded. Of course, I love to play Devil's Advocate...

Oh, it's more than 100 now. See, that's good, because there wasn't quite enough filler before.

I don't care who she puts on her list - blogs are by nature opinionated and subjective, as is any list, whether it's "best bars in Park Slope" or favorite people. But the fact that she makes a point of the list being "opinionated, inherently flawed, subjective, [and] obviously controversial" indicates to me that she does indeed care about what people say, probably quite a bit.

the idea is so lame, soundsl like something a seventh grade girl would spend hours doing with her friends at slumber parties. The "cool people and why we like them list". makes you cringe. Her son must be mortified, or at least he should be at his mother's continued attempts to be a "hip cat" or whatever she calls herself as she clops around in her Park Slope clogs.

Drano, of course you're not drinking too much just because you know my name! I like to think of [redacted] as a neighborhood store where we can be friendly with our customers. So much better than working somewhere snooty! :D
