Pretty accurate, to my surprise, in terms of neighborhood bounderies and info. They did mis-identify a picture of "Soles" window as "Pieces".

When I opened up shop here seven years ago, PH was not on anyones map, as I found out. Oh, how things have changed!

this is very cool! not a bad list. maybe i missed it but how could they leave out tavern on dean? i've lived here since it was dean street cafe, and to me, it IS prospect heights.

Absolutely! That place is fantastic.
I would've liked to see Ripple Bar make the list too. There are few deejay bars in Brooklyn as nice, and with the food and afterparties they often offer, it's a gem.

I'm a bit chagrined that Christie's didn't get a mention. They're even on the correct side of Flatbush now! Sheesh.

Gen and Natural Heights (yes, I know I'm biased) are absent as well, but they somehow fit in Mayday Hardware?

True..we are being a bit picky. However, the article describes Mount Prospect Park as having some of the best views of Manhattan. I happened to be there the other day; you can hardly catch a glimpse of ANY of Manhattan from there!!! :^o

in the article in last week's ny times, will self (while walking to manhattan from Kennedy airport) climbed mt. prospect and did not seem to be overly impressed. i think that the article indicated that mt prospect was in prospect part. maybe that's why he wasn't impressed. it's like the time yarn guy's brother visited brooklyn and thought that the little park with the fountain in the middle of the grand army plaza was prospect park. "it's kind of small," he said. Self then dined at the Burrito Bar.

I sent in a correction to the Times explaining that Mount Prospect Park is not part of Prospect Park, with this page as a reference: http://nycgovparks.org/sub_your_park/historical_signs/hs_historical_sign.php?id=12472

But they didn't print it. Who cares about Brooklyn anyway?

At least once a weekend, while walking the dog, I see tourists going from the BBG or Museum into Mt. Prospect, and they obviously think it's Prospect, and boy are they disappointed!

if they'd just build that bridge between the parks over Flatbush...

EP, We should start a huge, popular newspaper and print inaccuracies about Manhattan and refuse to issue corrections. That'll show 'em.

I was there yesterday and was trying to see if there was a way to get through to Flatbush if you go behind the fence at the top of the stairs by the library. Mind you, I didn't actually go behind the fence, so I didn't find out for sure. Looks like you can't. Maybe we should build an unauthorized bridge while everyone's out of town for the holidays.

Good call - behind that fence, only the homeless go...and you can't get through without scaling the fence.

A bridge actually has some basis in historical fact - one of Olmsted's original drafts for Prospect Park includes a bridge over Flatbush from the park to the reservoir - which is what MPP was until Robert Moses had it filled in.

I'm thinking we could get Calatrava to design something...and maybe Norman Foster could erect a tower in the park so you could actually see Manhattan and Brooklyn again.

After all, apparently Flatbush Avenue is the new architectural hot spot: Vinoly, Hardy, Gehry, Meier, etc...

Yes, I also had a small child with me, so going behind the fence didn't seem like a good precedent to set.

A bridge and a tower would be fun, given an infinite about of money to do fun stuff with.
