I'm making a global announcement, just in case someone here recognizes her picture. There's a photo with the story here, but I couldn't get it to display on this site.

FAMILY IS FRANTIC TO FIND TEEN

December 12, 2006 -- Missing since Friday.

This is 15-year-old Melanie Dash, last seen leaving her Bergen Street home in Brooklyn for school Friday morning.

Melanie is in good physical and mental health and is not a chronic runaway, according to police sources.

Relatives and cops are concerned because she lives in the same Crown Heights neighborhood where the body of Chanel Petro-Nixon, 16, was found stuffed in a garbage bag on a street in June.

No arrests have been made in that crime.

Anyone with information on Melanie's whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

I can't take another one of these awful posts! So sad...I hope she's found unharmed quickly.

Guest, where did you hear this? I'd like to believe you, but there aren't any news reports coming up online saying she's been found yet.

yeah, i did a google search and nothing came up either.
