and the lubavich's are already riding around with the menorah mobile, complete with speakers.

LOL....did you see the "Sukkot Mobiles" around the city a month or so ago for Sukkot?

Funniest thing I've ever seen....even funnier were the tourists staring and asking each other "Why are these guys with hats trying to sell plants to people???"

always for sukkot, yet they never give me an etrog (and they smell divine!).

though i have to tell you that i'm not much for someone coming up to me on the street and asking me if i'm jewish. even if they are from the happiest sect of chasidim

and on that note, i have to go to my studio in east williamsburg. on chanukah. which i can assure you will be an absolute driving nightmare.

Yeah, it bothers me too because if I say yes, i'm just another number checked off on their quota to proselytize to.

I said yes just to see what they'd do with the whole 'Sukkot Mobile' shtick. This young guy started reading this long-ass something-or-other to me in Hebrew that I didnt understand one bit.

It was more entertaining for me than educational or enlightening.

Check out my pics from last year's hanukkah menorah on new years eve in the park, as well as the ice menorah outside of the chabad party.....quite a sight....

The man in the picture. is Rabbi Hecht from Chabad. I know him personally a real sweat man.

They also invited me to the party at the rabbi's house on the corner with free latkes and other goodies.

It was a mostly orthodox crowd, but it was a very nice party. I did manage to run into someone from jdate there (of course ;)

    to paraphrase big guy...
the holidays without egg nog are like something without something else

free latkes are more tempting than you realize... they're also more fattening than you realize. so i'm saving my latke calories for my mom's hannukah party. (and since i'm the one who makes them, i get to snack on them as i'm cooking each batch.)

I walked past it tonight, thought it would be more impressive. Like big pillars of flame, not lightbulbs. Eh.

I get no latkes or brisket, 'cause I'm Cracker McGentile. I almost posted a craigslist want ad; all "Non Jewish guy seeling Nice Jewish Girl for brisket and latkes. Will horrify your parents and/or friends as a bonus incentive".
