I just noticed that At Home on 5th is empty and for rent. Did anyone shop there? I went in there a couple of times, but the price range was above my budget and I really only liked one, maybe 2 things they ever had.

The place right next to them is closed too, but I can't remember what was there before. It's the bright pink store.

I wonder what will take both their places???

I wonder if we are going to experience a reverse of the 5th ave boom now?

I would LOOOOOOVE for a place like this (see link) to take over both spaces.
Chef Works was a store at the last place I called home. They had everything and at the regular market prices. They carried quality last-you-a-lifetime equipment, artist creations, everything you would ever need EVER.

From Bauer plates, cookie cutters, cast iron enameled pots, decorative napkins, to utensils and ... well everything....

I used to love just looking at their new plates and shakers, you name it. It was top of the line, not Target stuff. I know there's a place on 7th ave that has kitchen stuff, but it just doesn't compare. They would totally carry your stuff BP.

Wasn't that Wrapper's Delight next door?

    Subject: Failed Biz

I live around the corner on Lincoln and both places never had customers. Wrong business plan + high rent = failure unfortunately. The same was the case for the overly built cafe on the corner of Lincoln and 5th which will reopen shortly as a French Morocan restaurant. :D

    Subject: at home/wrapper's delight

i think at home and wrapper's delight had the same owner. i would love to open up something in that space - its cute... the "for rent" sign in the wrapper's delight window is gone... wonder what that will become?

anyone have any idea what storefront rents are for 5th ave, on average, for that size space? just curious.

and ps, i used to get the kukaburra red licorice from wrapper's delight, and the dark chocolate covered orange peels... but sadly, there were never any other customers whenever i went in so i knew it was doomed from the start...
