Goodbye PKs?

So I am walking by PKs just now and they are putting up signs on all the entrances with NYPD shields on it and something about the Marshall. I will go back and snap a pic when they are done with it.

I thought I saw a swarm of blue in there last week or so... actually maybe 2 weeks ago... its all a blur, but I didn't think all that much of it. Didn't see anything here, so I thought I was eating crack flakes for breakfast again. And now I am thinking there was more to that.

So... anyone got the dirt?

Wow... I wouldn't feel bad about it if they did have the hammer drop on 'em.

after seeing a few fights outside of that place which all had an aspect of men abusing women, I'm not sorry to see it go. joint was nasty.

You'd figure that a place with a classy hand-painted sign would be in it for the long haul...

Was it ever truly more than conjecture that it was a strip club though? it was open so rarely anyway.

(stupid flickr keeps importing the picture sideways...)

I heard from pretty reliable sources that it was a strip club. also, while it looked closed most of the time, apparently it was generally open with blackout curtains pulled and the permanently closed door. awesome.

Is this the one on Washington and Park (or maybe it's Prospect)? Totally always thought it was closed--though there were enough sketchy places like this in Waco, should be used to it by now :)

that's half a block from me, and for over a year i've been building up the nerve to actually go in. maybe they'll put something not-shady in there now.

Regardless of whether or not this place was a strip club, PH needs such an establishment. Armchair, how about using some of the equity in your home to open PH's first gentlemen's club? It'd give new meaning to the word Pro Hoe. A flashing, twenty-foot high neon sign of a woman's silhouette would look awesome on Washington Avenue.

The Marshall is not part of the NYPD. The Marshall is involved enforcing court orders. City Marshalls serve a five year and are apointed by the Mayor. The shield displayed on the notice is not that of the NYPD (which can be seen at the link below).

Isn't the City enforcing the "no touching" laws? It doesn't make sense to open a strip club if you actually have to give up a bill in a gentlemanly way. You're better off renting a DVD.

don't think the club was city sanctioned, soI'm doubting any laws were enforced. in fact, I know laws weren't enforced. and not cause I was there - because the law breakers told me about it. AWESOME. goodbye stupid dump.

    great.
but honestly, all I read in this post was that I was wrong about a shield.
    whoopie.

I see Marshall. I see posted on all doors. I see locks.
    I saw police.

If you want to shed some light instead of telling me that I am clearly stupid about NYPD (something I would "cop" to all on my own), then please... feel free.

Geez, Jayce, chill out. There's absolutely nothing in that post -- which you quoted in its entirety -- calling you stupid.

For the bajillionth time this week, I'm just going to remind everyone to READ THE RULES (which are posted at the top of every page of this site at the link labeled, um, "READ THE RULES"), the first of which is to be nice.

I woul dlike to see a performance space in there--lounge and cabaret, burlesque.

    That would be ideal.

    Brooklynleather,

Excellent idea! Is there anywhere in the neighborhood to hear live music? I can't think of any places.

Thanks, Pennsodyssey. My main complaint about the NFL today is that there aren't enough snarling, toothless middle linebackers :)

    Best,
    Jack

OMG. Burlesque in the neighborhood would be teh awesome.

I never went into PK's (shocking admission, I'm sure) and didn't move to this area until after the previous incarnation had closed. Have any of you been inside there? What's the space like?

I've never been inside but have looked in both utopia and pk's - it's a bar with a stage-ish area and a kitchen.
