I know of United Meat Market in Windsor T. and Paisanos on Smith Street...but does anyone know of a real butcher in park slope?

A&S Meats on 5th Avenue near President Street I believe. They are a real butcher. There are also the guys near Save on Fifth on 5th Avenue & 7th Street-I think they are called Great Western? Not sure, they are a regular butcher shop also.

    i personally prefer A&S though.

United Meat Market is a real butcher, isn't it? I don't understand what would make you say they aren't. I prefer them to all the other neighborhood butchers. The service is excellent, and I special order from them all the time....I far prefer them to Great Western.

I've been a customer of United for years now and I absoloutely agree - but they aren't in Park Slope. I'm fairly close to them, but if you lived on Union and 6th or something it might be a hike - I'm guessing location is the OP's complaint with them.

I don't think the OP was saying that United Meat Market wasn't a real butcher, I think the point was that he/she is looking for someone actually in Park Slope, which United Meat Market is not.

A&S is the best we have in PS - they're a little further down on Fifth Ave, near Garfield. Nice guys, great sandwiches...

    Aaaahhhhh.....I get it now.

Well, I live on 8th Ave & 5th Street, so I don't mind the walk to United, but, if I lived on 5th Ave, I would head to Best Western, although my husband wants to boycott them for rude service he got there once (but they are always perfectly nice to me).

If Best Western are the boys on 5th Ave. & 8th Street then I second. They're the same folks who ran Berkeley Meats a few years back.
