Sounds like some kids got into a fight on the train and then some cops came and broke it up.

Sorry if this annoyed you--just thought it was odd that that many cops came out for just a random fight (which happens all the time on trains and I've never seen this happen) and that the shuttle was sitting there for fifteen minutes.

Now I'm going to feel like I'm piling on to you, but the second word in your custom title should be "bin," not "ben."

If the "ein" part is in there, doesn't it technically mean "I am a jelly donut?"

Jelly donut=the best kind. Except the sprinkly ones. But I digress.

Thanks Emily--I'm normally a stickler for spelling; still working on those foreign languages!

Sort of, but I think German people would just perceive it as a "whoops" moment. It's not as obviously hilarious as many make it out to be. I think part of the problem is that the term Berliner, for doughnut-like pastries, is only used in the South. But I've never spent much time in Berlin and could be wrong about that. German just isn't a very punny language.

None the less, there are plenty of "ich bin ein berliner" plastic doughnuts on sale in Berlin to tourists.

I always preferred Spandauer to Berliner myself. But you probably won't find them by asking around Spandau, any more than asking for Brussels sprouts in Brussels or French fries in Paris or Danish in Denmark or Vienna coffee in Vienna will get you further than a blank stare.

It's probably as annoying to them as when people say "New York minute" here.

FYI: people from NY don't use that expression.

Sorry if I've offended you in some way, ana.log. Not sure what the problem is but... uh, sorry?
