Manhattan rental listings

This isn't for me (I'm quite happy in Crown Heights!) but one of my friends is looking for a rental in Manhattan and has been having a really hard time. RentDirect isn't panning out for her, nor is Craigslist. She's in the East Village right now and hopes to stay in the downtown area. Any suggestions for other sites she should be checking out?

Ill try to remember this site, had alot of no fee listings for village area.

they're slumlords. I work in the east/west village doing almost nothing but rentals, and I promise you, slumlords. Not recommended.

Thanks, all. My friend just found a place yesterday. It ended up being through a friend of a friend, I think, but she appreciated the suggestion.
