Lighthouse on 5th Ave is decent but I have yet to find 'killer' anywhere nearby. There's also Bierkraft on 5th for true, jaw-dropping selection, but they're spendy and they're not actually, y'know, a bar.

There's no great beer bar anywhere near here. When I have to have an afternoon alone with my beer, I go to Spuyten Duvil (sp?) over in Williamsburg. Yadda yadda yadda, williamsburg sucks n'at, we all know; but this place has killer beer. And great cheese, which maybe should interest all you no-curtain-havin' white people out there.

Unfortunately, there are no good beer bars in Prospect Heights. When I want to enjoy beers I go to Brooklyn Heights to Waterfront Ale House or make the trek to Williamsburg to Spuyten Duyvil, Barcade, Mugs Ale House and Spike Hill. If there are any entrepreneurs out there, there would definitely be a clientele for a good beer bar in Prospect Heights/Park Slope area.

Word up! Spuyten Duvil specializes in Belgian beers and has a great selction of stuff from Germany and Holland too. Beer heaven.

As for Prospect Heights, doesn't Soda have a pretty big selection of taps? Like 14-20 different beers on draft?

Speaking of Belgian beer... there's a cozy place on W 4th Street, just off 6th Ave (by the basketball courts), called Vol De Nuit. Dark lighting, tasty belgian frites with frite-sauce, and a nice selection of tasty beer. Highly recommended for beer-heads.

Go to the Key Food on Flatbush. They have a kick-ass beer selection (no, it's not cold, but so what), and the prices are 25 to 30 percent cheaper than Bierkraft.

although i like Union Hall, i would never say that their tap list is great, and their bottles/cans is severely limited.

they have a couple of good beers, but are far from a beer bar.

I like the selection at Flatbush Farm... only five taps but between those and the bottles and cans there should be something to make even the snobbiest of beer snobs happy.

    I'll second that.

They have Dale's Pale Ale. Have you noticed this popping up? Soda has it, too. Even the Met on Vanderbilt sells it.

All suggestions here are good ones. It still mystifies me that Prospect Heights has so few bars. The market is definitely there and plenty of other businesses have opened in the area, so why not more bars? A cozy full-service pub would be great, or even a basic, no-frills place offering a wide range of bottles and taps. And a jukebox with the Cowsills!

I'm a fan of Soda's tap beer selection - I can always find a few beers that interest me. Plus with $3 pints during happy hour (every day til 8PM), it's just my speed, price-wise. :)

I really like Soda -- but I'm also a relatively simplistic beer fan.
