Underhill Avenue is Coming Up Roses

A new spa is to (someday) open between Sterling & St. Johns. Brookyn Broadcast & Audio has a brand spanking new metal security gate. The playground is (still) under construction.

What's next? You be the judge...

If I started a business in Brooklyn, it would be a combination cafe/coffee bar + Laundrymat .

You could come in to do your laundry in one area, step up a few steps to the cafe and eat and drink while you waited. It would be open late night and/ or 24 hours...

I'd have to get someone to manage it for me though....
But I think it would work on PH/Underhill....

i used to go to one in macon, georgia--coffee, tea, couches and a tv if you wanted to watch it while you were washing and drying. it didn't make me want to do my laundry, but it sure was less unpleasant.

of course the rental price per square foot wasn't what it is here.

    Cool.
Thought it would be interesting and someone else "beat" me to it :)
I keep hearing good things about NJ all the time - not enough to make me move, cause, you know, its New Jersey...

Bagels near GAP please. Is that so hard people? Bergen Bagels -- we need a satellite.

How much cash does it take to start a bagel shop anyway? Can I do it myself?

I say shiny new things are always a good thing, but lo and behold it has already been tagged up. Sorry, BB&A.

Does Brooklyn Broadcast and Audio sell bagels?

Also, did anyone notice that someone "tagged" the fireman's 9/11 memorial next to the food coop? Classy.

    (oh, and google sez: http://www.brooklynbroadcast.com/)

Amen. I've talked to the guys at both Bagel World and La Bagel Delight begging them to open one. Hasn't happened yet.

Someone was renovating the "spa" space pretty aggressively this past summer, but now it seems to have stalled. How long does it take to get a spa up and running? Or, are they waiting to cut the ribbon when the first moving van shows up at the new Richard Meir building?

I lived in Seattle 1999 - 2000 and back then they had a place that was already pretty established: Sit & Spin. Laundromat on one wing and a bar that featured live music on the other. Always thought it was an ingenious idea that seemed completely obvious once else thought of it since up until that point, going to go do my laundry had all the charm of waiting in a Greyhound station.

Funny. I googled it to tried to give ya'll a weblink and couldn't find a website for them, but one writeup on them starts with the quote, "So ingenious we wish we'd thought of it first." (I wrote the above before googling).
