my girlfriend and i are looking for kittens to adopt into our home, if you know of anyone in the PH neighborhood who can help us... we would love to hear from you...

Check with Slope Street Cats - several members of the group frequent this site, and I'm sure they'll be along shortly, but you can contact them yourself if you're impatient like me.

There are also a couple of posts above this one in this thread about cats available for adoption -- check those out, by all means!

Also, I just saw a mention on I think Gothamist.com this morning that all the shelters are bracing themselves for an influx of animals. Evidently it happens around the same time every year -- pets that were holiday presents get given up by the owners who have decided they can't handle having a pet after a few weeks. So there very well may be more available than usual any time now.

OK, you may not be ready for that level of involvement yet. I'd suggest http://www.petfinder.com where you can sort for age, breed, location, etc.
