It's on the other side of Flatbush, but Garden Cafe on Vanderbilt has a great Prix Fixe.

The chefs tasting menu at Palo Santo for $45 is one of the best meals I've ever had. It's on Union between 4th and 5th.

I think Rose Water always has a prix fixe, or a tasting menu. Cocotte may, but I don't recall the nightly schedule.

I noticed a prix fixe listed on the board outside the Oaxaca place
    718 230-7700, to make sure
(we couldn't get in with 4 people on sunday night, so i've yet to try it)

And some place has a tues and weds prix fixe in PH . . . who IS that?
people were going nuts for them for awhile.

and I think Cocotte does it Tuesdays.

Well not in PS but Chestnut on Smith Street has one but the especially good thing about it is that you can order ANYTHING except the Hangar steak off the regular menu.

You might be thinking of Sorrell. The chef came from 360. I ate at Sorrell a year ago and it was very good. I thought 360 was terrable after he left.

    Subject: price fix

Magnolia's on Sixth Avenue and 12th street has a great price fix
just about every night (may even be every night). You get an
apetizer, main entree, and dessert all for about $20.00. It is a great
deal -good menu choices & ample portions. The other night
I ate there with a friend and we both weren't too hungry so we shared
one price fix meal - tomato/mozz appetizer, BBQ ribs, & tartufo for dessert.
    Yummy!

Tempo on Fifth has Prix Fixe only and gets good reviews . . .

"The three-course menu costs $25 on Sun-Thu and $35 on weekends. A five-course tasting menu is also available for $55."

Also, on Tuesdays (?), Melt on Bergen has $25 5 course dinners usually.
They dont advertise it on the web though. Food is yummy.

I went to Tempo with my mom for Christmas Eve (her birthday) and had a great meal.

The only thing to watch there is that many items on the prix fixe menu have surcharges, so your $25/35 meal can cost a lot more very quickly

That's funny - I was walking around earlier and noticed two "winter market" prix fixes (Mon-Thurs all night). Stone Park Cafe's is $30 and includes a choice of 2 or 3 things for each course (3) - including oysters for the appetizer! Rosewater's is $28 and has a choice for the appetizer and main but not for the dessert (it looked really good though!) Not much for vegetarians in either place, but always a fish option.
