new wine bar on 5th ave??

It looks like there is a new wine bar opening on 5th ave, somewhere between 16th and 18th, cannot remember the exact cross st. Vin Rouge is the name of the place. Anyone have the inside scoop?

No inside scoop, but it would probably be closer to 18th since there doesn't seem to be anything new happening on the 16th to Prosepect stretch of 5th.

I drove by that stretch this evening and noticed a new wine/liquor store next to has beans on 5th btwn 17th and 18th. I didn't see the wine bar you mention but it sounds like this area is going to be getting some drinking options!

Is there a need? A 10th Thai restaurant, maybe. Another wine bar might be pushing it.

It looks like there is going to be a new wine/liquor store on the east side of 5th ave in that area, but there is also a a wine bar place on the west side street. Neither has opened yet, although the former looks a little further along than the wine bar.

The wine bar is owned and operated by the lady who owns the coffee shop (has beans) across the street... her name is Peggy. She's always been a right bitch in the coffee shop but has the presence of mind to hire cool people and I love to guzzle the grapes.

The less than attractive liquor store isn't opened yet... it's in the space where the photo-developing shop had been for years. Owners of that joint were super nice but couldn't keep up w/the shots in rent and the advent of digital cameras.
