Ol' Bodegas Spot

Subject: Ol' Bodegas Spot

Does anybody know anything about the old Bodegas spot? Is it just going to sit there until the Atlantic Yards project is built, when they'll finally put something in there--but by that time we'll all have moved out to Howard Beach, where rent still comes in at a reasonable $1500/month for a studio? It's so unfortunate that there's no place to get halfway decent coffee in the morning by the Clinton-Washington A/C stop. (But I guess that's another topic altogether.) I would weep with joy and start up believing in the almighty again if something opened up there, it'd be great for the area--if anybody wants to throw loot in but doesn't have time to run the joint, holler at me. I'd gratefully manage.

There is talk of a trattoria with brick oven pizza and an adjoining gourmet market. Cross your fingers.

Where is this talk coming from? Sources, please. Who owns/is responsible for renting out that space.

The bodega on the corner opposite the former dance studio seems to be a popular place to get coffee (and food).

Subway sandwiches still looks closed to me. A lot of spaces are closing/closed on that corner.

The space is owned by PACC--Pratt Area Community Council. They took applications for new tenants and should be deciding soon. From what I can tell, they are committed to put in a business that the neighborhood has requested--could be a bank, could be a restaurant. There was a long thread on Brownstoner on this topic not long ago.

I think I remember a thread that said that PACC had done a study and they really wanted to get an Applebee's in there. I hope that isn't true.

Heh. I actually did go to Outpost for the first time on Monday, following a rec. from this guy at a party last weekend. Coffee is pretty tasty, and love the space. It is a tad of a hike for me, but definitely worth it.
