engineer needed for brownstone inspection

i'm in the process of trying to purchase a brownstone in clinton hill and i need an engineer for the inspection.

though i've lived in the area for years, as a renter, i've never needed an engineer, and have no idea how to find a reputable and thorough one.

i would greatly appreciate any tips on what to look for or names of people you've had good experiences with.

I used Heimer Engineering (718) 237-7777 and was very very happy with them. I have recommended them to a few other people and they all had good experiences with them. Also you may be able to find some more recommendation on the Brownstoner.com forum. Good luck and welcome to the neighborhood.

I second Heimer. Also used Perri at one point, and didn't find him nearly as thorough as Heimer.

Perri is frequently recommended by brokers, which tells you something.
