edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
Hi I am looking for a 1 + or 2 BR in Prospect Heights, Park Slope, Ditmas Park, Boerum Hill, Kensington, Bay Ridge, Windsor Terrace. The brownstone in Pk Slope I have been living in for close to five years has been sold. It would be great :) to have hard wood floors, gas stove & I'd really love outdoor space. I need about 800-900 sq. feet ideally. Must be feline friendly. Looking for rent under $1600. Please email : [email hidden]. thank you for any tips or leads!

p.s. I have to say, in reading the various boards, that Prospect Heights feels a bit more 'neighborhoody' than Park Slope. Is that true?

I think it is...it's a more mixed demographic, too, which I like a lot.

You should consider looking in Crown Heights too, especially the edge nearest Prospect Heights. I don't know when you're looking to move, but if it's soon you might still be able to find a place in the new Jewish Hospital on Prospect Place...rents are a bit high but there's lots under 1600 in there.

I just finished the apartment hunt, and have ended up with a very nice place in Prospect Heights, but I wasn't able to find anything for the price you are naming. I think that the Jewish Hospital might be a possibility, but we had mixed feelings about it when we went to see it and it is not conveniently located.

My recommendation is to think about what is most important to you. Chances are you won't get everything you want, but you will certainly get some. And if you up your price a bit, it will make a world of difference.

When are you needing to move by?? I might be a bit late on this, I was just turned onto the website. But I'm going to have a totally renovated *brand fricking new* two bedroom at St. John's and Franklin for $1395.

    Subject: thanks!

Hi I know it is hard to find the 'perfect' apartment ... I'm trying to go through different routes having pounded the pavement with many brokers last time. that's why I so appreciate the people who have written to me both privately and here.

I walked by the Jewish Hospital by chance yesterday, after the Caribbean Day Parade and before the New Orleans' vigil at the community garden on St. Mark's, and it looks like an interesting building. I've read mixed things about it here on this board but everyone will like different places to live ... that's what makes it all interesting.

I have a little bit of time on when I can move ... I can move both sooner or later. :)

    thanks.

    cat.

    Subject: still looking ...

Hi. In case case any October/November people have apartments available, I thought I'd post again since I have a lit-tle more time to find something. I know it's out there ! :) I first posted around Labor Day and that's probably a less active time when less people are around. thanks for any ideas, suggestions, etc. cat. (email: [email hidden])

That board has a lot less traffic--I think that's all there is to it.

My 1 1/2 bedroom apartment on Vanderbilt Ave will be empty sometime around November 1. PM me and you can see it. Rent is $1550 right now but sure to follow oil prices and go up.

The apartment right below me is still empty and being renovated...and if the sounds/smells emanating from it yesterday are any indication, I think it's going to have hardwood floors. It's an old building, but the landlords are very responsive, and it seems like they're doing a thorough job on the renovations down there. It's a 2 bedroom railroad with a large, sunny eat-in kitchen and bedroom, smaller interior bedroom and living room. Nice original details (from what I've seen). The other apartments in the building went for $1200 each after renovations. It's on Park Place right by the shuttle train stop between Classon and Franklin. PM me if you want the landlord's phone #.
