Why do all the diners in FG/CH keep such crap hours?

Does anyone know why the diners all shut so early around here? why don't they stay open later so you can get the grab a greasy bite to eat late at night when you want it? It seems like they're all closed by 8 or 9 at night. Did they ever stay open later? do you think our neighborhood could support a later opening?

thanks

I honestly don't know if the neighborhood could support it or not.

I blame those damn Pratt kids! They're the ones that should be out boozing late-nite and creating the need for late-nite greasy food. They're not holding up their end of the bargain!

Maybe you should try to stay out later. John's Donuts opens at 5:30 AM.

traditionally diners cater to a breakfast/lunch crowd, so most close up pretty early by regular restaurant standards. i always hoped at least one of the local diners would go 24-hours. if Pratt Diner did that, it might lose its redheaded-stepchild status against Mike's Coffee Shop!

Well, I think both of those places do their bread & butter business with the Pratt students themselves, during the hours when classes are in peak session. They're not depending on business from the outside neighborhood to survive.

Too bad, though. Pratt Coffee Shop has excellent food, especially for the price. I always try to eat over there when I am in that neck of the woods.

i guarantee that if those diners would open later, they would get plenty of business from the pratt students AND the neighborhood. us pratt kids don't disappear after class is out.

I think it probably had to do with safety in issues in the past when the neighborhood used to be rough. Please someone open a 24 hour diner!

How about the fact that it's nigh-impossible to get delivery (or even sit down, for that matter) after 10 p.m. in the 'hood? I think there's a secret OPEC-like conspiracy amongst local restaurateurs to keep their hours ridiculous. Hungry Clinton Hillers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your waistline!
